Introduction to the job

As the QM&EHS team, we are responsible for introducing productive and sustainable improvements for occupational health and safety and environmental protection at the Berlin site. Bring your knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for EHS from your previous technological environment to our technology company. As an EHS Specialist, you will be a point of contact for your sector, supporting departments for efficiency, transparency, and continual improvement in EHS.

Role and responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments and coordinate necessary measures with specialist departments
  • Provide occupational health and safety advice to departments with regard to technological feasibility, and corrective or preventive workplace measures
  • Classify risks associated with accidents and near misses, and provide support to departments with root cause analyses and improvement initiatives
  • Promote occupational health and safety awareness, and reduce accidents by implementing Kaizen initiatives, adopting best known methods, and communicating within your sector
  • Hold train on EHS processes, software tools, and root cause analysis methods
  • Conduct internal audits and effectiveness reviews according to the audit plan
  • Maintain and optimize an automated emergency notification chain for working alone

Education and experience

Education:
Technical degree (MSc) in chemistry, process engineering, precision engineering, or equivalent engineering science

Professional experience / Personal requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in the area of occupational health and safety and environmental protection with a manufacturing company in the chemical or precision engineering industry
  • Trained occupational safety specialist
  • Sound knowledge of legal requirements for occupational health and safety, of ISO 45001, and of management systems (ISO14001, ISO9001)
  • Relevant additional qualifications (e.g., ergonomics, industrial hygiene, hazmat, explosion protection, noise, fire protection, project management, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
  • Ideally, practical experience in the application of basic QM and lean methods (8D, root cause analysis, Gemba, Kaizen, etc.)
