Development Engineer for surface modification and micro-structuring (m/f/d)

ASML Berlin GmbH (formerly Berliner Glas GmbH) is a major ASML R&D and manufacturing site, with expertise in optics and wafer chuck technology. Over 1,200 employees work at ASML Berlin in Germany. They develop and produce several key components for ASML lithography systems, including wafer tables and clamps, reticle chucks and mirror blocks.

ASML is a leading supplier to the semiconductor industry. The company provides chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce the patterns of integrated circuits (microchips). Together with its partners, ASML drives the advancement of more affordable, more powerful, more energy-efficient microchips.

Your responsibilities

  • Development of innovative manufacturing processes for functional surfaces with a tolerance range from µm to nm made of glass and advanced ceramics
  • Pilot series implementation of the developed manufacturing technologies and production processes
  • Execution of feasibility studies for the development of new micro-structuring as well as functional flatness correction technologies
  • Planning and implementation of design and manufacturability tests on laboratory samples as well as prototypes
  • Organizational as well as technical project management of investment and technology development projects for the introduction of new technologies
  • Independent management of interdisciplinary teams in coordination with other departments
  • Technical support for the engineering and manufacturing departments of our various business units when introducing new products and optimizing production

Your profile

  • Successfully passed engineering or science degree
  • In-depth understanding of the physical properties of the materials glass, ceramics and glass ceramics desirable
  • Sound knowledge in the field of surface physics as well as micro and nanotechnology
  • Ideally, professional experience in the field of industrial development
  • Strong practical implementation in the field of: FIB, IBF, plasma technology, RIE and lithography
  • High degree of innovativeness, self-initiative, determination and creativity
  • Very good analytical and conceptual approach as well as communication skills with a high degree of personal responsibility
  • Sound experience in project management, ability to work in a team and openness for agile project planning approaches
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
